Katniss meets Peeta Mellark, the boy tribute from her district, and they take a different approach than many of the other tribute pairs. Katniss and Peeta must decide who to trust and in the end, are faced with an impossible decision.

Starting with his friends and his grade, he gets other people to say his new word until a whole word war begins at Lincoln Elementary School: Kids (Nick) vs. Teachers (Mrs. Granger). While Nick was warned about Mrs. Granger before he started fifth grade, he still took his chances with her, and it ended up being a pretty unforgettable year.
